Getting to the Heart of Black History Bulletin Board

February is Black History Month!! To be honest,I believe we should celebrate Black History Month all the time! Here are some of my favorite Black History Month resources that you and your students will love doing! Check them out below!

Black History Month Flip Book

This product includes 48 different possible research ideas for your students! This makes an excellent research project idea for Black History Month too! Some of these amazing African Americans are well known- while others are not. There are authors, inventors, civil rights activists, musicians, and more! ( such as…Bessie Coleman, Frederick Douglas, Malcom X, Mary Kenner, George Washington Carver, Billie Holiday, Dr. Patricia Bath, Jesse Jackson, etc.) Your students will LOVE researching and finding out information to include in their flip book. If your students have 1-1 Chromebooks or laptops, I highly recommend this as a project! You can check out this Black History Month product HERE.

Black History Month Close Reading

Do your little learners want to learn about important historical figures? There are 20 close reading informational text passages about African Americans who made an impact on the world! The passages are about many African Americans who are famous for different reasons. Honestly, this would make a GREAT addition to any Black History Month unit! Totally kid friendly too! There are 4 close reading questions that are 'right there' (meaning the answers can be easily found in the text! This is a fun and easy way for your students to learn about some awesome African Americans this month! Check out this close reading product HERE!

Ruby Bridges

Ruby Bridges was truly a brave girl who changed America! This product will get your kiddos writing and making connections to Ruby! This will make a great addition to your Black History Month Unit!! There are 2 close reading passages included as well as 6 close reading questions that go along with it.  There are also a ton of graphic organizers that your students can use to learn more about Ruby. Some of these graphic organizers include a KWL chart, a Venn Diagram, Description Graphic Organizer.  There are also half sized and full sized writing pages included too! Check it out HERE.

George Washington Carver

George Washington Carver was an inventor that all should know about! This product will get your kiddos writing and making connections to George. This will make a great addition to your Black History Month Unit!! Use this resource with ANY information text about George Washington Carver! I strongly suggest using: Who Was George Washington Carver as a read aloud! Check it out HERE.
